New northern four piece Kansas Burns are a band to look out for in 2009, if their debut EP is anything to go by.
With a sound reminiscent of Mogwai and Thrice, songs like ‘Against the Grain’ and ‘How We Built Britain’ are full of angry guitars and discontented lyrics. While they seem content to stick with the simple ‘pretty, peaceful extended intro before thrash guitar second half’ format, they are good at what they do; instrumental title track ‘Rip Out Your Heart’ being a particularly good example of the quartet’s musical skill.
