Easy Star All-Stars - Easy Star’s Lonely Hearts Dub Band
Album Review

Easy Star All-Stars – Easy Star’s Lonely Hearts Dub Band

Reggae wonders the Easy Star All-Stars apparently are building a name for themselves by covering well known albums by international acts, song by song. Namely Pink Floyd’s “Dark Side of the Moon” but altered to “Dub Side of the Moon” and also another album titled “Radiodread” which probably doesn’t take much figuring out.
Now it’s the Beatles turn. Here they present “Easy Star’s lonely Hearts Dub Band.” This is a complete cover of the Beatles album from start to finish with the songs in the exact order. And it couldn’t be simpler. This is the Reggae version!

With such iconic music as their blueprint, then built with their own sound, Reggae is actually a genre of music that works well. What we end up with is a very easy sounding album. That isn’t to say that is by any means easy to do this. There could have been catastrophes left right and centre if done wrong. But there are fewer risks when adapting into reggae as opposed to say doing a Drum and Bass cover of an album.
Luckily though the musicians and vocalists seem to know what they are doing, and for the large part of it do it well.
