The 2008 Nationwide Mercury Prize compilation CD was released on Monday, 25th August and features a track from each of the 12 Albums of the Year shortlisted for this year’s Prize: Adele, British Sea Power, Burial, Elbow, Estelle, Laura Marling, Neon Neon, Portico Quartet, Rachel Unthank & The Winterset, Radiohead, Robert Plant & Alison Krauss and The Last Shadow Puppets
The album includes eight singles and features two exclusive live tracks, ‘Ghosts’ by Laura Marling and ‘Cittagazze’ performed by the Portico Quartet. Both tracks were recorded in July 2008 at the 'Albums of the Year' launch event at The Hospital Club in London.
The overall winner of the 2008 Nationwide Mercury Prize will be announced on Tuesday, 9th September at the Awards Show, where there will be live performances from many of the shortlisted artists. Programmes will be broadcast on BBC Two, Radio 1 and Radio 2.
