Official Secrets Act – The Girl From The BBC

Whilst flicking through one of the weekend’s broadsheets I saw that OSA are being championed as a ‘breakthrough act’ in 2009. So when yours truly received their new single in the post and popped it in the player it was with more than a whiff of in-trepidation.

Coming over like a less than angular and fluid Franz Ferdinand, their formula is distinctly guitar indie. The whole song seems based on the infatuation of a girl from the beeb and the false hope that the singer believes ‘I like her, she likes me’ and there is every chance that she will be going to Paris or Rome for the summer with him. The lyrics are pretty devoid of any decent ideas and stink of far too much repetition. Its almost like the band are forcing themselves on us and not enjoying what they are doing, it barely flows at all. There are far too many bands already doing this and trying to compete for the punters pounds. Back to the bunker for Official Secrets Act.
