David Rainger – The Short But Astonishing Electro Scratch Guitar World Of David Rainger

David Rainger is on a one man mission. It’s called in his world ‘electro-scratch’ and his 11 track debut album weighs in at less than 25 mins. The album uses a variety of electronic equipment, scratches and guitar. His sound delivers a mix of ambience (dark planet) through to the sequencer squelshy (back across the tracks) which for me is the album’s highlight. ‘Old skool Electro’ does what it says on the tin whilst plagurising some synths riffs from the new romantic 80’s. The albums certainly has potential but the drawback has to be the length of some of the tracks. Just when you are shoe-horned into the groove of some of his ditties they are pulled away from under your feet. This is definitely a grower and if he nails it second time round and has got a pocket full of gems for his sophomore release he could be destined for cult status!!
