The Brute Chorus will be releasing their fourth single All The Pilgrims on Sunday the 31st of May. Recorded live at The Roundhouse on February 28th this is the first of all the songs recorded that night, to be released into the public domain and is a taster of more to come as the release of their debut album draws ever nearer.
The band rehearsed non-stop for four weeks above a Dalston pub in preparation for the live album recording and enlisted the help of Mercury nominated producers Choque Hosein (Black Star Liner) and Victor Van Vugt (Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds, Gogol Bordello, PJ Harvey and Sons & Daughters) for the project.
A firm favourite among fans and recorded in one hit in front of a sell-out crowd the song blends yet more of the band’s influences for this punked up rockabilly stomp that compares sexual desire to the fervent worship of a saint, in this case Joan of Arc (…'in her bob hair cut’…), and finds the band ‘…laid out in the power and babbling in tongues…’ ; imagery that vicar’s son, songwriter James Steel, witnessed first hand at prayer meetings as a teenager.
A band of unique style and merit, The Brute Chorus have already toured England and Scotland extensively this year as well as recorded a live set for The JD Sessions due out on Channel 4 on May 29th where they dueted with Sons & Daughters’ front woman Adele Bethel on their song The Cuckoo & The Stolen Heart.
