The Thermals UK Headline Tour

“We Were Sick” is the second single from The Thermals' LP ‘Now We Can See’ and is release on June 22nd via Kill Rock Stars. By way of explanation, The Thermals’ front man Hutch Harris says:

“We were sick! We sat atop the world with limitless power and control. The only problem was our greed grew exponentially. The more we had, the more we needed. We didn't enjoy a second of our fame and wealth. It only made us more paranoid and detached. The masses loved us, we feared and hated them. We nurtured our disease, cared for it like a sick baby bird in a dirty shoe box – fed it all kinds of expensive medicine, always making sure to under dose. You want to treat, not cure, in a situation like this. Kill the sickness and everything else goes with it. In the end, the virus was all we had, all we cared about. It kept us well. Hell, it kept us alive! When it's all over, we'll have “We Were Sick” to explain ourselves to the archaeologists. We were high, we were alive, we were sick.”

It was written and performed by Hutch Harris and Kathy Foster, and produced by John Congleton (Explosions In The Sky, Paper Chase). In a career chock-full of ridiculously catchy post-pop-punk anthems, “We Were Sick” sits at the top of the heap, and perfectly describes the state of humanity, and The Thermals themselves, in 2009. Too young to kill, too old to contain.
