Iona Leigh - Beside The Waves Of Time
Album Review

Iona Leigh – Beside The Waves Of Time

Coming over like a folk pop artist, Iona Leigh could fine a fan base that have a lot in common with “The Corrs”. At least their more mellow work to date anyway. Her voice makes for a predictable fit for this style of music. The songs are replete with the acoustic and string accompaniments you’d also expect.

The songs as a whole however do manage to stand out more than you might expect. This comes down to decent music and lyric writing, even if they are then presented in familiar tones. The music does manage to stand out and is beautifully played.

The album is perhaps stretched out beyond its capable borders, but overall we have an artist who can sound traditional and modern all at once. This album could well be one that gains respect and attention, but it’s doubtful that this will ever be her best work.
