Templeton Pek – Kill This Sound

Wasting no time whatsoever, drums roll, guitars twang, bass thunders along and we are right into it. A capable, but synonymous, lead calls into his mic, and then the pace doesn’t really let up. Even when in a quieter part of a song to let the lead guitar take over the rhythm and tempo remains just as frenetic like they are almost in a rush to get the song out of the way so they can get on with the next. And the second track is just as manic.
The third track seems to highlight the problem of their lack of ability to change speed. They try it in this track and it’s a clumsy attempt.

To be fair though the remaining couple of tracks do highlight their strongest material. Both quite different songs, one very commercially friendly and the last more of an acoustic venture. But someone needs to tell these young guys that you don’t impress just by calling or shouting into a microphone. Where’s the poetic beauty, where’s the grace… yes even in this type of music.
