Remember when the likes of dodgy, but respectable, metal acts like iron Maiden were hammering out tunes that despite how trite the lyrics got we’re still memorable and even likeable to the casual ear. Sword take their cue from the likes of this age of rock and mange to not do too much with it.
So we get to hear words like Doom, Madness, Discord, Death, Ancient and Sacred. The sad thing is that their lead singer is the most uncharismatic lead in a metal band in a while. And at time’s he is barely audible, or just isn’t strong enough to be able to hear what the hell he is singing. But that isn’t such a bad thing when he apparently is sing from the METAL edition of the Word of the Day toilet paper roll. So we get to hear words like Doom, Madness, Discord, Death, Ancient and Sacred
So all the “virgin princesses,” “unnatural Chills,” “Hallowed Mountains” and “Burning Wastelands” aren’t going to save this band any time soon.
But they must be working wonders on some as this edition comes with a release of both the new album as well as their previous release “Age of Winters.”
