Rieser make an affable attempt to interject themselves into familiar modern musical waters. There are no fancy tricks, no tweaks, no hooks that will call too much attention to themselves so as to undermine the rest of the music. It’s all good wholesome honest music straight down the line.
The first couple of tunes on this EP do a capable job of showing that the band are more than able to play, sing and entertain. They can change rhythm, play hard, play soft. “Call Me Around” is possibly the strongest song on here, highlighting all aspects of the musicians, and even creating a sound and feel that is slightly different from what you may have heard before from similar bands. Perhaps we still need more evidence to see if they are going to stay around long enough to impress further.
