Sometimes a band comes along that excites and intrigues you in equal measures. Meet Hallo…I Love You! A band that combines beautifully crafted songs with science and love. Comprising of Chris McIntosh, long-time singer-songwriter in one of Liverpool music scene's godfathers 28 Costumes, producer Robert Whiteley (Hot Club de Paris, Voo, 28 Costumes), Andy Donovan founder of incredibly gifted but now defunct Elle S'Appelle, Annamarie Owen's of A capella trio Barbie Shop and Voo drummer John Wallce. Some might say this looks like a bit of Liverpool Super-group!
Starting out as a pseudonym for Chris McIntosh's electronic-pop solo project, the song's on myspace attracted interest from Radio 1 DJ's Bethan Elfyn and 6Music's Tom Robinson who both played the band on their respective shows (Bethan Elfyn making one of the song's her myspace profile song for 2 months!). “It had never really crossed my mind to do anything more with the songs than have a myspace page but gradually the idea of having a band and playing the songs live really became an exciting prospect and now seemed like the right time to give it a go!” says Chris.
“It had always just been myself and Rob in the studio, but I've been friends with Andy and Amo and John for ages and they're all super talented people who were all keen to get involved…it's pretty exciting working when we're all in the practise room throwing ideas at each other. It's a bit of a departure for all of us as I think we've only ever worked in indie-rock bands prior to this…it's a massive challenge, which is why we're doing it”
The band's first show is at the o2 Academy on Friday 22nd May supporting Little Boots and Soft Toy Emergency as part of Liverpool Sound City.
