Cutaways - Milo of Kroton

Cutaways – Milo of Kroton

Just what we need, another synth-indie-pop band flogging themselves on Myspace and hoping their individuality breaks through in the most saturated genre going.

In fairness The Cutaways, a new boy/girl/boy trio from Belfast, they seem to be as talented and energetic as any of the other crop of pretenders, but on the evidence of latest single, ‘Milo of Kroton’, they don’t seem to be filing any new niche.

Taken from their forthcoming debut album, Earth and Earthly Things, expected this July, Milo of Kroton is a lively little number, full of the requisite jagged guitars and electronics, with the added bonus of singers Paul McIvor and Grace McMacken’s charming harmonising.
It’s good but not great, and possibly not enough to propel them much further than Irish adulation.
