Magic & Fur – Christine

Echoing folk mingles with skiffle, to mull over love, life and mystery under a slight psychedelic shower, resulting in the dreamily thought provoking debut from this Christopher Wilde led sextet.

Magic & Fur, use a rustic guitar bounce to help the splattering of several low-key and, at times, hovering vocal touches that are colourfully coated by a shimmering percussion jangle. This adds a needed tingle, craftily stopping the mood from getting too reflective and mournful.

A quicker tempo takes over for the bristling pop ballad, ‘Apple Falls’ and a Bowie at his most chilled out flavour, helps the earthy philosophising make its desired impact. A disco friendly nod and a slight mod influence helps to display a bit of adventure, sending out a message that this recently formed troupe is going to grown in both range and influence revealing.

This is a debut that has enough depth, variety and adventure to stand out. Can they follow it up though?
