Emily Haines band are quoted as a “revolutionary new sound.” Well… Whilst they are definitely not a bad sound, there isn’t anything remotely new about it all.
If anything it’s a bit of a stilted sound. Each member seems quite capable enough of perhaps creating noise, but its very repetitive sound. The music doesn’t really go anywhere beyond the simple repetition that is the guitar riffs in the verse and choruses. Whilst is isn’t particularly bad playing it also just again isn’t anything to get excited about, but at the same time it is trying to be a song that is pretending to be exciting. Haine’s own voice does reach all sorts of destinations, but it’s wasted on a song that is masquerading as more than the sum of its parts.
