Awaydays – Soundtrack

Having a tagline “The soundtrack that inspired a film” is very suspicious. It usually happens the other way around. Either a composer lays down music to a film, or the songs featured in the film make up the soundtrack.
Hollywood has a penchant for releasing Song track soundtracks labelled “Inspired by the film” which usually means the songs did not feature in the film, they just want to sell some CDs with rock acts thrown in there. Here it appears to be the other way around. Someone has listened to a bunch of music and then made a film based around that!

Featuring the likes of The Cure, Joy Division, OMD, The human League and not one, not two but Three Ultravox tracks you can be assured that this film has a late 70’s setting. The music itself is extensive (as there are 28 tracks) and combined with a few instrumentals and vocal tracks containing dialogue you are getting a soundtrack of pure mood and feel for the film itself as opposed to just another collection of songs.

And every track chosen is not a hit single, so this could well appeal to fans of the era.
