Coming to ‘steal your city lights’, Allegro certainly make a pleasant racket. The fuzzy, jangling guitars and melodic bass accompany singer, Austin’s, yelps in a way we’ve perhaps come to expect since the likes of The Libertines. The whistling keys of “Citylights” is a welcome touch, although all three tracks could benefit from being a little shorter. Closer “I’ll Be There For You” (not a Rembrandts cover!) leaves a sweet after-taste, which hints at what Allegro have to offer that hundreds of similar bands simply don’t.
