Teitur – Girl I Don’t Know

Taken from last year’s acclaimed The Singer, ‘The girl I don’t know’ is representative of that album’s departure from the starker guitar-voice prettiness of the Faroese Troubadour’s original sound. It’s driven by a brooding bassline, punctuated by a simple horn riff, abstract lyrics are coupled with Teitur’s tunefully forlorn vocal delivery. It’s a slight song really, short and sweet and lacking a real climax, but of no uncertain beauty.

The title ‘EP’ seems a little misleading as the three other tracks are also from The Singer, recorded at a Radio 2 session. Good listening though, they showcase a promising live sound; this version of the album’s brilliant title track has an especially sweet intimacy to it.
