We are excited to announce that DE LA SOUL will be performing as part of the Beachdown Festival warm up series of gigs at The Concorde 2, Brighton on 12th June!
De La Soul, a Grammy Award-winning hip hop group from Amityville, New York are best known for their eclectic sampling and quirky, surreal lyrics. Formed in high school, they have gone from strength to strength, with their colourful, neo-psychedelic collage of samples and styles, clever rhymes and goofy humour. With their debut album release in 1989 of 3 Feet High and Rising which brought with it playful wordplay, innovative sampling, and witty skits and was hailed as a hip-hop masterpiece, being voted Album of the Year by NME Magazine, a title better known for its taste in guitar-based music. In 2006 the group won a grammy for their collaboration with the Gorillaz on the single ‘Feel Good Inc’. After last year’s brilliant Beachdown show at Devils Dyke in Brighton, De La Soul return to Concorde2 for a warm up sure to set the place on fire!
