The Ruskins – Slow Down Jessica
With a nod to Arctic Monkeys and a wink at Johnny Cash, The Ruskins, Steve Lamacq approved, single, “Slow Down Jessica” is a cheeky tale told at a Vicky Pollard speed. The lyrics are almost indecipherable on first listen, but on a third and forth play, there is a charming, quintessentially (modern) English tinge to it.
B-sides “Dont Be Silly Joe” and “6 For 5 Alive” continue in a similar vein. With praise from the likes of the NME and Xfm, these West London scoundrels could well find themselves as the next big thing, with the tunes to back it up aswell.
