Welcome back… me! Yep, I've been off on my holidays and only just got back. I've spent the last week with no contact to the real world and it's been fab. I've had my phone switched off, I didn't check my e-mails once, I didn't go on facebook, in fact I didn't even go near a computer. I didn't watch tele, read a newspaper or magazine. I have no idea who anyone is in Big Brother and I don't even know the latest update to the Jordan and Peter saga. It's been utter bliss. Although, now I'm back and it's impossible to ignore all of this (although I have tried), but I've succumb. I now hold a copy of Heat magazine in my hands i.e. the gateway to everything big brother, Jordan & Peter and skinny vs. curvy debates.
The two things that caught my attention on my return were the fact that Dizzee Rascal is Number 1 and the continuation of the political meltdown of this country. Erm, yeah two completely different subjects, but still popular topics. Now, I think it's obvious that a high consensus of people are disappointed, to say the least, in Gordon Brown and the Labour party, it seems people are itching for a general election. There is also a lot of worry over the BNP party. With their recent foray into the Queen's garden party and winning seats at the European Election – in the words of Dizzy Rascal 'it's bonkers'. Actually, it's more than bonkers it's a disgrace that a racist nazi party could have any political sway.
You see, the government is meant to be a democracy that the represents the people of this country. The government are meant to serve us and put into practice what we vote for, however, it doesn't always feel like this. Especially, when they are spending tax payers money on cleaning their moats. However, after carrying out hours of statistical research on the public's response to the BNP party (i.e. looking at facebook groups
about the BNP) it is clear that people are in opposition to the BNP. Looking at the statistics on the BBC's website The BNP has two MEP seats whereas the Liberal Democrats have 11, Labour 13, and Conservatives 25. I don't think we are in danger of being ruled by the next best thing to Hitler's Nazi Party just yet, but it is a disgrace that in this day and age the BNP are still getting votes.
