Dublin outfit The Last Tycoons are launching first single from eagerly awaited debut album this Friday June 12th at Crawdaddy.
'The Dry Law' is a drinking man's anthem, set in prohibition/depression-era United States evoking the rich musical pastures & narration of classic Americana greats. While the story is set in late '20s/early '30s America, the lyrics' reference to economic struggles are as relevant today as they were in the time the song is set. 'The Dry Law' will be the first and flagship single from the upcoming debut album.
The Last Tycoons began life as Porn Trauma and released their first EP 'Sunrise' in 2005. The four-song EP was a critical and commercial success, spending several weeks in the Irish Top 40 and being hailed by HotPress magazine as 'a revelation'.
Since then they have been touring in Ireland and the UK, gaining a reputation for their often raucous live shows, but have spent the last 8 months working on their debut album, which is now completed, but is as yet untitled.
'The Dry Law' will be the first glimpse of the new material recorded and will no doubt serve as a tasty appetiser for one of the most eagerly anticipated debuts of 2009.
Join The Last Tycoons & friends to celebrate the release this Friday June 12th at Crawdaddy, doors open 8:00pm. Admission €10.
