Having been championed early on by the likes of Simian Mobile Disco and finding himslef hosting a Radio 1 show, Kissy Sell Out’s debut album delivers a summery jolt of electro.
Over a year in the making, “Youth” is the perfect title for a disc so full of tales of leaving through the window and waking up the morning after.
With Robert Smith-like vocals provided by co-writer, Danimal Kingdom, “Youth” sounds how you might imagine The Cure to, had they discovered electro beats and myspace rather than eyeliner and misery.
The jittery, melodic sounds found here are best suited to being pumped, at high volume, out of a car stereo on the kind of day when the sun feels like it’s melting the tarmac.
All in all worth a punt, you never know, if the weather holds out, this could be the soundtrack to a few barbeques and the like this summer.
