David Saw – Buy My Record

A refreshingly honest plea from yet another young singer/songwriter, David Shaw’s ‘Buy My Record’ is the first single from new album, ‘Broken Down Figure’.

With a voice somewhere between Ray Lamontagne and Ryan Adams, and with friends like Carly Simon and Jimmy Webb, he may not have to beg for record sales much longer. Both ‘Buy My Record’ and ‘Some Love’ don’t depart that much from the usual ‘man with guitar’ template, but his voice and lyrics are charming enough to get him places.

A good choice as first single, ‘Buy My Record’ is a bit more upbeat and fun than the rest of the album, benefitting from the inclusion of catchy drums and piano line, whilst ‘Some Love’ reverts back to the simple sound he seems to cherish so much.
