Michael Jackson Tribute Night at Dublin's Button Factory

Temple Bar's The Button Factory will be hosting a special Michael Jackson Tribute Event this Tuesday July 7th to mark and respect the passing of the greatest pop star the world has ever seen.

Commencing at 17:30pm, the late star's videos will be played across a large screen with numerous DJs playing music from his vast back catalogue and even the televised funeral will be shown, no doubt drawing emotions from even the most casual fan in attendance.

Michael has continued to break records, just like he did in life, since his passing last Thursday. He sold more than 2 million downloads in the last 7 days, until then no artist had ever even sold 1 million copies of a song before in the same space of time.

In America he is the first artist to hold eight of the top 10 slots on any Billboard chart and the first to claim six positions, including the top four, in the top 10 digital albums chart. Keith Caulfied, Billboard's senior chart analyst said, “After the passing of big stars, from Frank Sinatra to Jerry Garcia to George Harrison, the impact was felt on the charts. But not to this degree. Even John Lennon or Elvis Presley can't come close to this.” In his lifetime he sold roughly 750 million records worldwide, the most by any solo artist in the history of music.

His official website states “His Music Will Live Forever” and has notched up nearly 500,000 tributes from fans all over the world. At the time of press, his 'This Is It' 50 date sold-out concert may still go ahead as a Tribute Show, involving members of the Jackson family and a whole host of other artists. The show's 50 dates all sold out, selling 20,000 tickets per hour, making it the biggest audience ever to see an artist in one city, the most amount of people to attend a series of arena shows and fastest ticket sales in history, more than double Prince’s previous record of 21 sold-out concerts at the O2 Arena.

Celebrate Michael's legacy at The Button Factory, Temple Bar, Dublin this Tuesday July 7th. Doors open from 17:30pm. Spot prizes for the best Moonwalk…
