The Gentlemen –

These Gentleman seem to either be cashing in on the scene, or have come a couple of years too late. When the likes of the Kaiser Chiefs and Maximo Park were entering the scene all those years ago it was to help take the music scene in a retro direction. This effort here serves only to remind us of the volume of bands that then crashed that party.

We are fortunate now that we can look back on it all with retrospective glee. It is far easier to see who is standing the test of time and who really just didn’t have what it took to make it. The Gentleman may be able to string a bunch of tunes together, but really they aren’t even much of grade higher than a high school indie act. The music seems like something passionately learned and applied, but there isn’t any sense of invention going on. Everything seems based on other bands there are merely fans of.
