Stevie Hoang – Addicted

Taken from forthcoming album ‘Better Man’, this is a suave slice of R&B from the Birmingham born singer/songwriter/producer.

Built around a simple, recurring piano motif, this has all what you would expect – minimal beats, strings, stuttering high-hats, breathy backing vocals and whizzy synths – wherein lies a bit of a problem.

As polished and well structured as this is, it’s hard to shake off the feeling that you’ve heard this all before. This is just a small niggle though, as it’s evident the kid’s got talent – he has a sweet R&B voice and is a trained pianist and producer. This single whets your appetite for the album, and it’ll be interesting to see which direction he takes in future.

Needless to say, if you like R&B, you’ll like this.
