Psychedelic Pop? Do we need a call back to the likes of the Beach Boys just yet? The musical world likes to revolve as much as it evolves, and here comes a call-back to a music that is so set in time that it would be hard to reinvigorate in the present music industry.
Perhaps the thinks is that if the likes of 70’s pop throwbacks like the Scissor Sisters can make a success out of what they dug up from the past then why not this too. The problem is that the likes of Abba and the Bee-Gees were much more accessible music, and although they have their place in time, they also have the high camp and even comedy factor to help them do well in a future market.
A very 50’s rock ‘N Roll can only ever sound that way, especially when it sounds like it was fronted by Buddy Holly. If it was more rock orientated then it probably could have been something worth investigating, but here is strictly a call back to a music genre that is likely to stay dead for a while yet.
