Merc Announce The Rifles to play August in-store Session

The Rifles will be joining a number of bands set to play at Merc’s legendary Carnaby Street store in London over the summer months as part of its LIVE Initiative.

Performing a classic set, the intimate gig will kick start the last bank holiday weekend, taking place at 6pm on Friday 28th August.

Having enjoyed a close relationship with the clothing brand over the years, lead singer Joel Stoker is looking forward to playing such an intimate gig: “We love doing these types of small gigs. It’s something different. We’ve always liked playing small venues and you can’t get smaller and closer to people than this!”

So far, the fortnightly sessions have seen folk/electro act Hatchlings and a special DJ set from former Dirty Pretty Things member, Didz Hammond. Last Friday (17th July), Merc turned up the volume slightly with a full rock set from Stoke band New Education.

It was a good finish to a great day for the band, after their new single ‘Another Miracle’ played out Friday’s Ashes highlights on Sky. Cricket fan and bass player for the band, Jack Dooley said, “We’ve always been Merc fans, so to be invited down was pleasure. Ace clobber, ace place and top beer!”

Merc’s LIVE in-store series will be brought to a close in September by quality popsters, Official Secrets Act.
