Dinosaur Pile-Up ' The Most Powerful EP In The Universe'

“Dragging Weezer’s grunge-punk synthesis kicking and screaming into the 00’s… Dinosaur Pile-Up have got tons of what righteous dudes have called ‘sweet riffs’, since the dawn of time, and don’t hide their rock n’ roll flag under a bushel.” – NME

“Dinosaur Pile-Up are the missing piece. The band to fill that void and make rock n’ roll as dark, sexy and thrilling as it should be.” – Rock Sound

“Dinosaur Pile-Up are here to show us the error of our ways. Thank them” – The Fly

“Dinosaur-Pile-Up are a brilliant rock band, audibly as interested in the Prodigy influence as much as grunge.” – The Guardian

Little under a year since their formation, Leeds based trio Dinosaur Pile-Up can already boast a list of achievements a list as long as their sound is mighty.

With an NME Radar piece already under their belts, 2009 began with the release of their debut limited edition single ‘My Rock N Roll’ in January. Quickly selling out, the song enjoyed massive support from Zane Lowe, Huw Stephens and Steve Lemacq among others and quickly introduced the band to other markets including Germany, where, following a performance at Eurosonic in Holland, the band headlined the first Club NME in Berlin. The band also made friends in France where they toured as part of the prestigious Les Inrocks national tour in April.

‘My Rock N Roll’ was followed by the equally limited edition release of Traynor, in April, a song that affirmed their riff-driven roots and won them footing with Kerrang, Kerrang Radio and Rock Sound and glowing reviews of the band followed. After selling out their first London show at Camden Barfly, their second London appearance came in the shape of a headline slot at Club NME at Koko. Second London show proper at Hoxton Bar & Kitchen sold out in March.

Now, with summer upon us, Dinosaur Pile-Up are poised to enter PHASE 2! The band returned to the studio with Leeds based knob twiddler James Kenosha (Pulled Apart By Horses, Grammatics) in May, to record the songs that would make up their debut EP, the modestly titled ‘THE MOST POWERFUL EP IN THE UNIVERSE!’

Out on August 17, the EP is led by ‘Summer Hit Single’, which debuted by Zane Lowe on Radio One. The EP also features a new version of the live favourite ‘Opposites Attract’, which features in its original form on the new Huw Stephen’s Wichita compilation, ‘Music Sounds Better With Huw’.

It is to soundtrack what is a very busy festival season ahead, with sets at T In The Park and Oxegen down and Boardmasters, Bestival and Reading and Leeds festival (Radio One tent) still to go!

Sticking with their independent outlook, the EP will be released on the bands own Big Brain Records label in conjunction with small indie, Friends Vs Records.

Other tracks on the EP are ‘Beach Bug’, ‘Opposites Attract’, ‘Melanin’ and ‘Cat Attack’.
