Speech Debelle – Better Days
Mercury nominated Speech Debelle started rapping aged just 13. The flow she demonstrates on Better Days is certainly a testament to this.
The whistling synths and dense production create an almost claustrophobic feel, although the track is let down by the membled chorus.
B-side, Where Do We Go?, showcases Debelles talent far better than the title track. The acoustic-led tale of hard times has a brilliant melancholy air which leaves Better Days in the shade.
