The Chemists – A Love like No One Else

I must confess to getting a little excited whenever a promo from Distiller Records drops through my letter box; I’ve not yet been let down by the label that boasts a varied roster of independently-minded artists seemingly united by top-drawer songwriting. This new one from the Chemists has done nothing to dissuade my affection for the indie label.

Kicking off with a quick, chirpy synth intro, it’s a loved-up little indie-pop barnstormer furnished with hooky vocals that bring to mind early Feeder, not least on the bouncy chorus. Pleasingly slight, it comes and goes and you don’t regret spending three minutes odd in its company. The b-side “Sooner or Later” is an edgier affair, angsty guitar-driven stuff but showing the same knack for a catchy, simple chorus.
