Calvin Harris – Ready For The Weekend

That Scottish electro upstart Calvin Harris tends to polarise opinion, though I’ve generally found myself an admirer of his accessible indie-electro sound. This forthcoming single forecasts another helping of that for his same-titled sophomore effort.

With the sort of shameless synth-pop sound that’s made for the summer months, “Ready for the Weekend” is essentially a fusion of 80s electro on the verses and a big female vocal hook on the chorus that recalls dance music in its early-to-mid-nineties heyday. Good, disposable fun and a cast-iron chart hit in the making, this will be a mainstay of dancefloors everywhere until we’re all quite sick of it.
