Zalinski –

London-based pop-rockers Zalinski’s demo is a satisfying affair; an eclectic mix of sounds topped with a great vocal performance. Opener “This too, shall pass” is impressive from the off with its slow build up and thrilling breakout riff, and continues to sound pretty good on the grooving verses before it breaks out again in an effective quiet-loud switch.

“Alive” mixes soulful indie with a reggae groove and is again very well delivered, the chorus is a euphoric high point of the demo. “Honesty Policy” is a cool blues-rocky number, recalling the Black Crowes replete with cool Bourbon-drenched guitar playing. Zalinski know how to end things on a high and accordingly “Hitman” could be the pick of the bunch, alternating between a reggae vibe and big rock sound, the vocals are at their most emotionally charged. It concludes what is surely a demo of no small promise.
