“Billy Corgan’s favourite new band actually deserve the hype.” SPIN
“A tsunami of reverb, loping bass and echoing vocals.” LA TIMES
The ethereal, atmospheric shoe-gazer vibe of Gliss is brought to us with their new single, ‘Morning Light’, released 3rd August on Cordless/Rykodisc via ADA Global.
A completely unique sound of distraction and distortion, Gliss have their own unique story. Darkly disturbed, this hazy morning-after trip is from a trio, (Victoria, Martin & David), of uber-hip La-La Land residents. Tracks have the fractured brutality of My Bloody Valentine versus the foggy beauty of Goldfrapp and Lush. When Smashing Pumpkins’ Billy Corgan first caught them in their early beginnings, he took them on his European tour though the band had barely left L.A.
Such a seductive sound pulls in so many different vibes. Single ‘Morning Light’ creates a sound where Krautrock meets The Liars. The buzzy bass psychocandy evokes a bruised Velvet Underground wrapped in a stutter-cool shell. Their cracked vibe is accentuated live by an incredible show, where they frequently change instruments to create crackling electricity.
An essential part of the scene in L.A., they have toured with The Raveonettes, Editors, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, Smashing Pumpkins and We Are Scientists amongst others. The band are looking forward to releasing their neurotic album later this year.
Fuzz out and listen to this shimmering Sonic Youth to have your mind taken to a different place. This is rock ‘n’ roll excess if you dropped your guitar pedals in your Jack ‘n’ Coke, and then dried them in cashmere.
