Million Dead presents us with another screamer and shouter for a vocalist. Just being able to maintain that amount of power (even if you do sound young) in your vocal chords is impressive as most other people would blow their boxes after about a minute.
But then perhaps Million Dead have a little bit too much of the old throat clearing over the mic technique. There is a point where enough becomes enough, unless of course you enjoy listening to someone throw up over a mic. It is very prolonged, but thankfully there are moments when it actually sounds like Frank is attempting to do some actual singing as well.
But toilet clenching vocals aside, the rest of the quartet fulfil their part of the bargain and ably support Frank’s work with some beyond half way decent music.
The inclusion of a live DVD featuring spots at the Camden Underworld seems a bit pointless and promotional, but then again with this trashy metal feel a small dive like that is possibly a good choice to highlight this band at work.
