Polly Perry and her lively band bounce along with some bluesy country music that doesn’t linger on the same note for too long. The opening song literally sings “I have to get out on my own and follow my feet” and that literally sums up the album.
She is in familiar territory but has taken a fresh path to the material. It has to be said though that it is still a genre album, so it still isn’t likely to find fans outside of the arena, but it is also just as likely to grow a strong fan base, based on the material at hand. Perhaps if her voice was even stronger than it is here it may be the makings of the kind of work that wins awards, but until that day comes, for now, it remains a steady piece.
