Dan Arborise - 'You'll All Get Whats Coming To You'
Album Review

Dan Arborise – ‘You’ll All Get Whats Coming To You’

In a world where just about anyone armed with a decent voice and a rustic looking guitar can be classed as a singer/songwriter, what makes Dan Arborise stand out from the crowd?

The title of his latest single “You’ll All Get What’s Coming To You” is exciting enough without even listening to the song itself. Once you do, you are hooked in by a pleasant jangly guitar sound which continues througout. This is standard territory for anyone attempting to sound folky, and you get the impression that Arborise realises this.

His vocal performance is anything but textbook, being oddly inaudible at times as well as dipping in and out of melody. You can appreciate that he is attempting to do something fresh and different but despite his efforts, you can’t help but feel that his singing just misses the mark and fails to hold the song together.

There is no doubt that Arborise is talented and for those that embrace his style, this song will be as rewarding as his previous work. However, on the strength of this release, those that do enjoy his music may continue to be limited in number.
