Dananananaykroyd - Some Dresses
Album Review

Dananananaykroyd – Some Dresses

Dananananakroyd are the latest cracker of a band to come out of Glasgow, and yes I am just a little biased, but can you blame me? This sextet are already on their third single, having made their recently released debut album “Hey Everyone” with legendary producer Machine.

There’s no denying their name is a bit of a tongue twister, but it’s as attention grabbing as their sound which is loud, eclectic and most of all, fun! Guitars which are one minute melodic and the next blasting out a riff are complemented with the all-important drums of which they have not one set but two which allows them to play havoc with traditional expectations of timing.

“Some Dresses” careers from rock to indie and back again in a style they have dubbed as “fight pop”. Whatever you call it, think Johnny Foreigner and Los Campesinos! and you have a rough idea of what genre they have been grouped with. To say their music is lively is putting it mildly, I dare you to listen and not have the urge to start dancing! If you are lucky enough to see them on their upcoming UK tour you should be in for a great night as they already have a reputation for being one of the best live acts in the UK. For those who aren’t, have a listen to their latest single, you won’t be disappointed.
