You might half expect Cooper to have a wild she-devil for a vocalist when you first hear Gordon Edwards cry out before the lyrics begin. But he is very much a man when he does.
His voice is easily the best thing going on here as it is still quite distinctive, which all rock bands really need. Great musicians work can all but be destroyed by a poor quality, or unmemorable vocalist. Here they have that sorted out.
The musicians might be the ones having to play catch up, and whilst there is some very interesting, if creepy, guitar work going on from the lead – the rhythm is very familiar territory. It’s worth a listen though if you like to sample new material out there. It’s one of the better ones.
