Jay-Z announced yesterday that he will give a benefit concert at New York's Madison Square Garden on September 11th, when his eleventh studio album, “The Blueprint 3,” hits stores..
Jay-Z's first two singles from “Blueprint 3” — “D.O.A.” and “Run This Town” have already been made available on the internet. Two new tracks from the album, “Off That,” featuring Drake and produced by Timbaland, and “Reminder,” also produced by Timbaland, leaked online Sunday (Aug. 23).
According to the New York Times, the concert will raise money for the New York Police and Fire Widows' and Children's Benefit Fund, a charity created to support the families of police officers and firefighters who have died in the line of duty.
Jay-Z's last New York-area performance was a last-minute headlining slot the All Points West festival on July 31, when he stepped into replace the Beastie Boys, who had to cancel due to rapper Adam Yauch's cancer diagnosis.
