We seem to becoming infested with a lot of rock at the moment. The desk is brimming with CDs all screaming out for attention. Takoma Star is no different.
Fans of the likes of Feeder will find a lot of joy in this album. The singer is a little bit more gruff than Grant, but the tunes are similar in approach. In fact they at times a little too similar. But enthusiasts of the former band can rejoice as they now have two bands that play music they way they love it, which is surely the way to look at this.
The album comes thick and fast in a frenzied blur. You have to wait until the 9th track before something remarkably different happens, but even the acoustic gentle introduction of that gives way to heavy riffing. But then the final track of the album is much more of a tender song that does some justice to the band as musicians.
