Richard Hawley – Truelove’s Gutter

Richard Hawley has a strong, deep and old fashioned voice, that of which you might have heard singing on Christmas Carol albums.

Whilst perhaps not quite the personality of a Bing Crosby or a Frank Sinatra or even a Lionel Bart, the music is fairly atmospheric, which thankfully the vocals take a back seat to on a regular basis. If anything Hawley should be projecting his voice harder and heavier to make it even more distinctive. This of course would require him to write songs that were a bit more anthem-esque. At least then he could give the likes of Tom Jones a run for their money,
