Today Bestival and our rip-roaring year of the spectacular gets underway and do we have some unmissable extra-special goodness lined up for you?! Just to make sure you don’t miss all those the unmissable treats we are launching an amazing Bestival i-phone app that will keep you up to speed from the moment you set off on your way to the Isle of Wight, all the way to the alerting you about earlybird tickets for Bestival 2010 when they’re announced.

Going from the super high-tech to some honest to goodness physical endeavour, Swim to Bestival is back! 12 mightily courageous swimmers are braving a choppy 3-mile crossing of the Solent this year in aid of three charities; the island’s St Catherine’s, Christopher’s Smile and with continued support for Imibala. Last year despite the swim not taking place due to some very harsh weather conditions, the money still went to the Island Youth Water Sports Centre, Chernobyl Children’s Lifeline and Imibala.
Swimmers will be in the water at Gosport in Portsmouth for 12.15pm on Thursday 10th September with a staggered start due to take place at 12.30pm, they should all have made it to Ryde Pier on the Isle of Wight by 4.00pm. Just in case, the same plans are in place for Friday 11th September should the weather forecasts nearer the time prove to be fairer on this date. Finally, you can get yourself in the mood for a Bestival knees up by grabbing yourself a copy of the latest Mixmag, as Rob da Bank has mixed the coveted 'Mixmag free CD', joining the biggest DJs in global dance music who over the years have made this a very competitive slot to be included in. Rob's mix is a 'Bestival 2009' CD and is reflective of Rob's DJ sets, minus the tears sometimes experienced in the Bollywood Bar for his legendary finale set. The CD includes Bestival acts such as MGMT, Passion Pit and Underworld, and also includes a world-exclusive Rob da Bank remix of MGMT, approved by the band in time for the CD. It also showcases Rob da Bank's remix of Passion Pit. Don’t miss out.
