Isa and the Filthy Tongues - The Social
Live Review

Isa and the Filthy Tongues – The Social, London

Having heard their latest single release I thought it a worthy trip to catch this intriguing band live as they pass through the big smoke. And the only sad thing about tonight was that I had to leave early in order to make another gig.

Just above Oxford Circus is a small and dingy looking club called the Social. It was cold, damp and very poorly lit on their tiny little stage that the four set had to play on.

But the band wasted no time in occupying the space and getting right into it. There appeared to be some eager beavers in the crowd that amassed ready to hear Isa & the Filthy Tongues, and the groovy tunes that followed did not seem to let anyone down. Having had very little exposure to the band myself I can now affirm that I will be looking out for current and future material. The Bassist and Guitarist did some wonderful combos and gave a fairly minimalist band a deeper feel to the music, almost layered at that. Isa herself was playing the temptress behind the mic. It was almost a psychedelic experience taken down route 66 of dirty rock.

One to watch then? Definitely.
