Billy Talent – Devil On My shoulder

The riff to RATM’s ‘bombtrack’ has been plagiarised here by Billy Talent. Ok, recycling old riffs isn’t a new thing but if you scuzz it up and get a Steve Albini take on it then you might rough it up enough to take a punt on it. This is an uber clean and tidy MOR rock track that really does nothing to excite the eardrums. It positively gleams of niceness and is frankly very very boring to listen to. Rock music has definitely moved on and I’m not sure if Billy Talent have worked that out yet. If they don’t get up to speed and reinvent themselves quickly then they are gonna be well and truly left at the starting gate!!
