Gemma Ray - Lights Out Zoltar!
Album Review

Gemma Ray – Lights Out Zoltar!

Gemma rays work here ranges from pop, orchestral, and melody happy folk which then segues into a 50’s feel. Clearly a fan of many a range of retro styles, Ray’s album comes accomplished if select in its appeal.

She doesn’t quite have a beehive hair do (yet), but her sensibilities are very telling in her music. But there is also a sometimes sinister side of her work that is very appealing (see Goody Hoo). It makes for a very alternative alternative to all of the alternative choices out there today.

There is the option for her in the future to spend time in the acoustic or even orchestral rock world as evidenced by “Something Shifted” which is a wondrous creation and seems almost like Hell and Folk clashing together.
