Jason Mraz may be the relatively senior partner in this duet, but Colbie Caillat shines brightest with her gorgeous velvet vocals. It’s just a little unfortunate, then, that they’re somewhat wasted on a sickly pop number.
The a capella intro is promising enough, but from the first chorus, ‘Lucky’ never threatens to break out of its mediocrity. Not that the coupling was a bad idea: the singers harmonise very stirringly on the chorus, but the saccharine cloying of this love song is difficult to escape.
