Motion Picture Soundtrack – Departure

Calling yourselves “Motion picture Soundtrack” may have been a clever idea, but is overly confusing when looking at a listing. This Ep is called Departure, so my first instinct before grabbing the disc was to look up a film coming out called Departure to find the composer of the soundtracks name.

It wasn’t long before it twigged. But this could well be a problem that persists with the band as they release more titles. Maybe it’s all a joke at the expense of people like myself, but sadly the joke still warrants them losing a few listeners on the title of them alone.

It all starts fairly indie-rock enough, but as the EP continues there is a lot of beauty to be found in their music, be it in the piano melody of Mirrors, or the refined vocals. It feels all the more passionate in the writing and composing of the music in these much more thoughtful moments. I hope it continues that way.
