The Maccabees Announce Warm-Up Show For Sep/Oct UK tour

WARM UP SHOW JUST ANNOUNCED:
29TH SEPTEMBER – BRIGHTON KOMEDIA
Tickets on Sale from 14th Sept @ 10 A.M

Fresh from career-defining sets at Leeds and Reading Festival in packed out NME/Radio 1 tents which had The Observer dubbing them “festival heroes” and NME reminding us “they’re probably the best home-grown indie rock band the UK has to offer right now”, The Maccabees will set out on their biggest UK headline tour yet on 30th September. In mid October they head to Africa to headline the Lake of Stars festival in Malawi.

In Wall of Arms they have released one of the best received albums of the year. The record entered the UK album charts at number 13 in May, winning praise across the board fans and critics alike.

“perfect, passionate and sophisticated pop… a fine album” The Sunday Times
“the meticulously evolved sound of a band aiming to breathe life into British indie” **** Observer Music Monthly

Recorded in Paris and England with producer Markus Dravs (Bjork, Arcade Fire, Coldplay), they blasted the myth of the “difficult second album” out the water with songs like the epic No Kind Words and brilliant singles Love You Better and Can You Give It.

Orlando Weeks (vocalist/guitar) approached artist Boo Ritson to created the iconic image of the band painted and photographed which adorns the album sleeve. The brilliant video for Can You Give it, a beautifully shot documentation of Gloucestershire’s famous annual cheese rolling race, and the brass band rendition of the single by the Dodworth Colliery Band were also ideas instigated by this singular young British band.

The South London by-way-of-Brighton five-piece have won over a whole new legion of fans, building upon the success of their debut album Colour It In with three sold-out headline tours already this year and key festival appearances at Isle of Wight, Glastonbury and T in The Park and Reading and Leeds.
